In the meantime, got some great stash this weekend. First, I'm at my favorite Dollar Tree store and there on the bottom shelf is Lion Boucle!! I cannot pass up $1 yarn but I did limit myself to 8 skeins (how's that for willpower?). Next stop - Michael's - where I was supposed to be just grabbing a small circular needle to make hats for the grandbabies. But the Bernat Matrix was shouting at me: 2 skeins for $4.00!! What's a girl to do? Of course, buy it.......
I know it looks like I've forsaken my favorite pasttime - cross stitch - but don't be fooled. The cold weather here in VA has me hibernating so there's a little bit of everything going on. The new year of course will bring new projects and I've decided to tackle "The Baptism" from Green Apple Southern Roots series.
It's 239 x 140 stitches - large by my standards. I'm looking for the just the right linen cause the colors are so muted & it's definitely one that I'll keep for myself. Happy stitching, knitting & crocheting to all. Be back soon........

I'm going to try doing them on circulars since there are no decreases involved.
Good luck on the fingerless gloves…. I am actually doing crochet gloves for my dd… and have resorted to putting rollers in the fingers to help with the shaping…hehe… WoW… you found yarn at The Dollar Tree… I love to shop at the dollar tree, but haven’t come across yarn yet... I like working with boucle yarn… you don’t have to worry so much about the stitches, because they aren’t noticeable. I recently did Hat & Scarf & gloves in boucle by Lion Brand Colorwave yarn… very soft. The Southern Root – the Baptism will be a beautiful piece… just looking at it – it’s so lifelike… the textures and muted colors give such depth.
Deb...my Mom knitted all my mittens with 3 needles...if that's any help...(probably not!) but maybe you can find someone at local shop to be willing to sit for 30 mins and get you in the right direction...I'll bet if you call ahead someone will help you. Hope so...and good luck...I love my "arm warmers" which are similar and hook around my thumb but longer than gloves. Very handy at the barn.
